Week 1: Mexico´s History, Art and Culture

Objective: The objective of the course is to develop an informed meaningful perspective of the Mexican economy and its evolving business environment, and to stress its relevance for pursuing economic policy or business opportunities in other emerging countries.

• The pillars of Mexico
• The construction of a modern state
• Mexico´s art and culture until de XIX century
• Mexico´s XX century art
• Cultural visit to downtown Mexico

Week 2 and 3: Economy and Finance in Mexico

Topics:
• The economy and “Banking for the poor”
• Socio-economic context and poverty alleviation policies
• State-of-the-art program evaluation strategies
• Violence in Mexico
• Education and labor market
• Health system and government intervention
• Labor market, migration and green policies
• Mexican business landscape
• Business opportunities in emerging economies

LANGUAGE MODULE

• Practice Spanish-language dialogues and conversations in real-life contexts
• Identify basic Spanish verb patterns;
• Familiarize yourself with Spanish parts of speech, parts of the sentence, and phrases;
• Gain knowledge on some of the most representative aspects of Mexican culture.
